Our mouths are watering at the thought of B Spot’s burgers and Townhall’s flatbreads… Craving American? Those are our top two picks. But, before you listen to us, check out the other great American options below. MELT has AMAZING grilled cheese sandwiches that are the size of your head while Winking Lizard has a ton of yummy flavorful wings. With so many good places to choose from you really can’t go wrong!

B Spot

bspot

A Michael Symon favorite, B Spot is located in Strongsville, Beachwood, Downtown, and Westlake. The atmosphere is super chill, and it’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends and chow down on some delicious burgers and Lola fries. We love the pickle bar-for the true pickle fanatic-and the bad a** shakes. Chocolate banana marshmallow, vanilla bean apple pie, and chocolate espresso are just a few. (We are sucks for anything marshmallow) Don’t forget to ask what the seasonal milkshake flavor is; it’s always something that’s sure to delight your taste buds! We recommend that if you are going to the Beachwood location for dinner, that you make a reservation! It is always busy.

Sara’s Place

sarasplace

Sara’s Place is a quaint American cuisine restaurant located in Gates Mills. With a variety of authentic and out of the ordinary appetizers, Sara’s is a great place to hit up for a night of drinks and apps. For the hungry, check out their burgers and pasta dishes-Gavi’s Mac and Cheese is amazing! Also perfect for a date night, you can set up a three course sunset dinner during the week-how romantic! They are closed on Sundays.

Fire

fire

Fire is located on Shaker Square and offers simple food and sustainable practices. With a wide array of menu items, Fire is more upscale than our other American food choices. They also offer weekend brunch on the weekends. Lemon souffle pancakes, homemade sticky buns, and almond stuffed french toast are only a few of their yummy offerings off their brunch menu. If you’re there for lunch or dinner, check out their dessert menu. The blueberry crostata with lemon lavender ice cream is one of our faves!

Townhall

townhall

A true Cleveland favorite, Townhall is located in the historic Ohio City district downtown. Known as an “Urban Cafe + Sophisticated Swill + Bean Bar,” Townhall is a fast-casual organic restaurant that serves whole and sustainable food options. Offering a non-GMO menu, there’s something for everyone at this American cuisine favorite. Voted one of the best places to eat in Cleveland by FSR Magazine, Townhall offers vegan, paleo, and shareable foods. Follow up your meal with a cookie skillet-it won’t disappoint! And if you’re there on the weekend, you must check out their brunch menu (there’s even a crepe bar!). Be prepared to wait 30-60 min during the busy brunch weekend times (11-2PM) so give them your name and phone number and they will send you a text when a table is available. We like to go to the West Side Market meanwhile we are waiting!

Winking Lizard

winkinglizard

With multiple locations in and around the Cleveland area, Winking Lizard is a one of Clevelanders favorite, and most "local" restaurants. For those who enjoy a nice cold brew, take part in their tour of beers-where you attempt to try all of the beers on their provided list (more than 375!) during several visits over a certain period of time. If you reach the goal in time, you’ll be invited to their Tour Finishers Party. If you’re just looking for some grub, look over their wing menu. They have a ton of great flavor options. Also be sure to say hi to their pet lizard while you’re there-each Winking Lizard has their own mascot! It sort of freaks us out, but we admire from afar.

Melt Bar & Grilled

melt

Not for the faint hearted (or for those who aren’t ready to get their feast on), Melt Bar & Grilled offers an eclectic atmosphere and gourmet cheese sandwiches. Each Melt restaurant is decked out with plastic light up lawn ornaments as decorations. They opened with one goal in mind: “to provide gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and as many beers as possible in a cool and comfortable environment.” Feeling invincible? Try their Melt Challenge. Their monster grilled cheese featured 13 different cheeses, 3 slices of grilled bread and a pile of fries and slaw. It’s over 5 pounds of food! Finish all of it without any help or trips to the bathroom (Good Luck, don't die tehe) and you’ll receive a Melt t-shirt or Pint Glass, a $10 gift card and you’ll be featured in the Melt Challenge Hall of Fame.

Taste

taste

Described as a “place for food, wine, and fun,” Taste is a more upscale American choice. This restaurant  is perfect for a romantic special occasion. Offering typical American cuisine including pastas, burgers, and seafood dishes, this is the place to go for a weekend dinner outing. Hit up their happy hour Monday-Sunday for some delicious food and great deals. Get their spicy garlic shrimp as an app and follow up your meal with lemon vanilla bean cheesecake.

Burntwood Tavern

burntwood

Offering a warm and inviting atmosphere, Burntwood Tavern features a menu of smoked, planked, and wood grilled food. The rustic setting with hand crafted lighting and furniture offers a cozy setting while enjoying fresh and flavorful food. Take a look at their drink and dessert menu which offers handcrafted items. Feeling hungry? They have HUGE sandwiches and burgers (we love the Old River Burger). And don’t forget to order up a side of the Tavern Tater Tots.

Parker’s Grille and Tavern

parkersgrill

Serving American dishes using the finest ingredients with a twist, Parker’s Grille and Tavern is a great option for when you’re feeling some good ‘ole American cuisine. Take a look at them menu and you’ll see classics like molasses and coffee marinated pork chops, hand cut steaks, burgers, BBQ ribs, fish, flatbreads, and salads. Start your meal with one of their appetizers (we recommend their margherita flatbread) and finish it off with one of their dessert options. Don’t forget your drink-they have 14 beers on tap, 32 bottled beers, 24 wines by the glass, and over 200 wines by the bottle. With so many options, there’s something for everyone!
